Rotary transducers

TWK’s electromagnetic and electro-optical rotary encoders are designed for measuring ranges from 0 to 360° and for a maximum of 32,768 revolutions. The miniature version with a housing diameter of 22 mm has a resolution of 12 bits. Multi turn encoders are availeable with diameters down to 36 mm.

Electronic switching cam encoder

Very robust electro magnetical encoders based on the Hall-effect with additional electronically controlled switching outputs. Two different housings are available with diameter 64 mm or 120 mm. Diameter 64 mm provides 2 and diameter 120 mm provides 4 relay outputs. The interfaces CANopen, SSI and analogue are on hand with a resolution of 4096 steps per 360 degree and a measuring range up to 4096 rotations.

Linear transducers and gauges

Travel, lengths, distances and shifts of between 1 mm to 7600 mm can be recorded using inductive or magnetostrictive linear transducers. Both sensor systems operate contact-free and are not subject to any wear.

Displacement/angle converters

Very long measurement displacement is converted into an angle using a mechanical facility. This angle is recorded using a multiturn rotary encoder. The measurement result is proportionate to the measurement displacement. Programmable rotary encoders can be calibrated according to the actual measurement stroke. The measurement signal may be analogue or digital.

Inclinometer

For measuring two axes up to ±90° in the earth’s gravitational field. Parameters such as the measuring range and zeroing function can be programmed in the MEMS technology-based sensor.

Electro-optical rotary transducers

K series: Housing Ø 58 mm, resolutions up to 16 bits/360°

The K series absolute optoelectronic rotary transducers are characterised by their high resolution of up to 16 bits (65,536 steps per revolution) with small housing dimensions. The measuring range in the single-turn version is 0 – 360°, and a maximum of 4096 revolutions in the multiturn version. Depending on the interface, they offer a reset button and an additional speed signal.

C series: Housing Ø 50 to 105 mm, resolutions up to 13 bits/360°

The C series absolute optoelectronic rotary transducers offer standard resolutions of up to 13 bits in a robust housing and shaft ratings of up to 250 Nm. They are available as both single-turn and multiturn encoders with up to 4096 revolutions. The range of interfaces extends from analogue or parallel to field buses with safety protocol (e.g. Profisafe).

GIO series with incremental output

The small Gio series optoelectronic pulse generators offer 4 to 5000 pulses per revolution. They enable a wide supply voltage range from 4.5 to 30 V and are available with a shaft or hollow shaft.

Electromagnetic rotary transducers

P series: Single-turn, housing Ø 12 and 25 mm

Designed as a substitute for potentiometric nominal value encoders, these electromagnetic rotary transducers operate wear-free and offer a rotary angle range of up to 360°. With a 5 V supply, they provide an output voltage of 0 – 5 V.

R series: Single-turn, housing Ø 22 and 36 mm, up to 13 bits/360°

Absolute single-turn rotary transducers in miniature format on Hall effect basis. With shaft or plug-in hub for contact- and torque-free angle measurement. With analogue or digital outputs and supply voltages of 5 V or 24 V.

T series: Single-turn and multiturn, housing Ø 36 and 50 mm, 13 bits/360°

Very robust absolute single-turn and multiturn rotary transducers on a Hall effect basis in dial-chamber design. The rotating parts are sealed by a radial shaft seal whilst the entire electronics are separated via a leaktight wall and can be completely cast-in. Protection types up to IP 69K and simultaneously high vibration and shock resistance are guaranteed. They offer resolutions up to 13 bits and a maximum of 32,768 revolutions. The range of outputs extends from the analogue output with teach-in programming to field bus interfaces with safety protocol. In the case of a suitable output, a speed and an acceleration signal are also possible.

GIM series: Pulse generators, housing Ø 58 to 115 mm

Robust, high-resolution magnetic pulse generators on GMR basis for mechanical and plant engineering. They are characterised by many possible pulse variants up to 273,408 pulses and optionally offer an additional analogue output for the rotational speed value.

Electronic switching cam encoder

Play-free electronic switching cam encoder: Housing Ø 64 mm and 120 mm, 12 bits/360°, cam contacts

Very robust electro magnetical encoders (mono- and multiturn) based on Hall-effect sensor system and two chamber design with additional electronically controlled switching outputs. These relays can be used for limit or position switches in your application. Due to the electronic design of this encoder the switches work completely play-free, i.e. there is no play weather the shaft of the encoder turns forward or reverse in comparison to electro-mechanical cam-switches. Protection grade IP66 and IP69K optionally. They have a high resistance against vibration, shock and EMV load. The resolution is 4096 steps per revolution (12 Bit) and the maximum number of revolutions is 4096. Many interfaces are available: CANopen, SSI and analogue (0 (4)… 20 mA or 0 … 10 V). Model NOCX 64 features two relay cam switches and model NOCX 120 up to four. The switching outputs activation and deactivation points, also referred as switching flanks, are preprogrammed ex factory on the models NOCA (analogue) and NOCE (SSI). Preset by customer over preset pin. The possibility to programme the switches via teach-in is in preparation. On model NOCN (CANopen) all relay switches are programmable by the customer via corresponding CANopen objects.

Magnetostrictive linear transducers

Magnetostrictive linear transducers enable contact- and wear-free displacement measurement with high accuracy. They offer measuring ranges between 0 – 25 mm and 0 – 7600 mm with linearity of up to 0.01%. Thanks to their completely encapsulated design, they offer protection types up to IP67. In addition to displacement measurement, the majority of models also enable speed measurement.

Displacement/angle converters

Cable-type displacement/angle converters for rotary transducers

The cable-type displacement/angle converters are designed for strokes from 1 m to 60 m. The rotary movement of a cable drum with return spring is transferred to a multiturn rotary encoder. The stainless steel measurement cable is wound in a single layer onto the measurement drum and is tensioned by the return spring.

Toothed belt displacement/angle converters

In the toothed belt displacement/angle converters, a steel-reinforced toothed belt runs around a pinion. The toothed belt is tensioned with a spring element and engages without play into the teeth on the pinion. The revolutions are recorded by a multiturn rotary encoder and are converted into a measurement signal. The measurement signal is proportionate to the displacement.

Multifunction displays

We offer various sizes of multifunction displays to display the values measured by our linear and rotary transducers either locally or in a control panel. These can be connected to transducers with an analogue or SSI output and to potentiometers or inductive linear transducers. They can additionally be used as limit value indicators and for linearisation.
